Since I’ve become Atheist, I feel like I’m more free. I feel that I can live my life the way I want to! Not because some imaginary person tells me. My life has more meaning because I know this is my ONLY life. I’m not living to make me happy after I die, I am living my life to the fullest each and every day. Please don’t make the mistake and stay religious, I promise you that you will value life more. I was forced to believe when I was born, and some people just can’t make decisions alone. Poor.

You’re absolutely right. Stalin didn’t want competition from the clergy. He usurped the position of the god, and as Hitchens says, “tapped into a reservoir of credulity”.

There’s nothing wrong with quoting scripture but anyone can do that. Christians must do what it tells them to do. We are lacking in that area often. That will make the greatest impact on the world’s opinion of christianity. James1-22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1-27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Obama said something today that was both very true and relevant -”No faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor”, and he was right and referred to the recent killings at Fort Hood as “twisted logic”. Religion or not, these things will happen because extremists and fanatics come in all sizes and shapes.

These policies did not just exist under Stalin, but also under Lenin, Kruschev, Mao, Pol Pot, Hoxha, Ceaucescu, etc. There has never in the history of humanity been such brutality on such a massive scale. Never Again.

The very name of the groups ie.”… Atheists” and “…Godless” and their policy of “Scientific Atheism” proves that it was done in that name. As I already said, their philosophic orientations were identical to atheistic ideas being expressed today. Hitchens is probably the most identifiable – is/was a Trotskyite (Bolshevik).His reasoning and language and references confirm that point. The policies of Dawkins are very similar.And yes groups do exist in the name of atheism and to push atheism.

i’m aware of Stalinist Russia and many other atrocities where people are killed by people that are anti-religion, however I would suggest that the tag “atheism” has nothing to do with it. They killed people because of communism, politics, ideology, greed, power, competition. They killed religious people and many non-religious for these reasons.

You can’t kill in the name of something that you dont believe exists (they’re ideologies strongly existed though). They were just bad people.
