There are countries outside of the USA, billy has been number 1 for years worldwide, Richard Pryor as the top comedian, maybe the top US comedian and my favourite but i’ve never heard of him as the worlds best and i’ve been going to stand up around the world for the last 10 years. Well I guess it depends where you live, in UK, Austrailia, New Zealand and alot of other countries Billy Connolly is “10 times bigger” than Carlin. Not that many people have heard of Carlin in the UK, but then I imagine not many have heard of him in the US so its swings and roundabouts really.
I’m not saying that Connolly isn’t good/great, it’s just that Carlin was, is and will ever be the greatest comedian on the planet. You can’t argue with all the best sellers, awards and most of all his influence to the younger comedians and people in general for decades. Even ‘the court case’ is another milestone in the american comedy history related to Carlin.
