“atmospheric gases are not sorted by weight; the forces of wind (turbulence) are strong enough to fully intermix gases in the atmosphere. CFCs are heavier than air, but just like argon, krypton and other heavy gases with a long lifetime, they are uniformly distributed throughout the turbosphere and reach the upper atmosphere.” – wikipedia

We shouldn’t mock the poor man’s death, but I’m glad he got what was coming to him.

They made a Tardis joke and made Alan disappear at the very beginning.

The clip is somewhere on youtube but I forget what it is called.

May I please ask where you got this wisdom that the QI team lacks? Because, just saying ‘that it is so’ has always been a form of skepticism that failed to convince any non-skeptic ;-) . I’ve seen so many: “I’ve read that someone is saying it all isn’t true so it can’t true’ statements that I’ve lost trust in all human intelligence long ago. As the sensible person you seem, would you please disclose the proven information that shows the QI ‘elves’ wrong? Thank you!

You’re not correcting Stephen so much as you are the QI elves.
They’ve been wrong before. It’s no big deal.

  22. ForgottenFirearmon 16 Nov 2009 at 2:19 am

I hate to correct Stephen and all, but it really is too bad the chlorofluorocarbon (freon) destruction of O3 (ozone) story is still being circulated. All chlorofluorocarbons have greater density than air at sea level. Eventually freon will degrade into, among other gases, chlorine, which will bond with O3. But then again, Cl in such (relatively) small quantities would hardly increase the Cl% of the atmosphere anyway.
