Everyone in this clip is amazing. But that Gadd isn’t he the allrounder of the world….And always the same kit :)

OMFG! This is an AMAZING performance! Petruciiani dances upon the keys so deftly. Miroslav Vitous is always so smooth and loose, the perfect bass player. But did you guys see hear Gadds solo? HOLY Farkin AMAZING!

    Thanks for sharing this! Supreme!

    WOW!

Now how much fun would THAT be….to know your instrument so well that you can just float on it for an entire evening in front of thousands of people. No other way describes this performance but just that; 3 geniuses completely relaxed and having the time of their lives. That’s true jazz.

I absolutely love Gadd. Too bad they forgot to tell him they were dressing up. Either that or he lost his luggage.

Steve Gadd is my favorite, and all his vids with Petrucciani are unbelievable! No one else inspires me to play AND makes me wanna burn my drum sticks at the same time :-D

I first saw Michel at the Tralfamadore Cafe in Buffalo NY in the early 80s. I did not know who he was but was blown away by his playing. He then went on to become a jazz recording star with Blue Note. I last saw him at the Montreaux Jazz fest in Detroit around 1990. He was influenced by Bill Evans but was all his own. RIP Michel…

What a trio! All 3 brilliant musicians. Steve Gadd is recognizable anywhere – he has a unique touch on the drums. Thanks for posting.

    un-fucking believable…

He has the bet left hand in jazz piano precisely because he uses it so little but so effectively :)
Not to mention his absolutely awsome thing where he plays chords in 3 on 4 time..
Stole that from him.. also stole the thing where he plays single notes with the left hand.. stole most of how i play from him, come to think of it.

Hardworking extremely talented trio. Gadd always does it for me and Michel was sooo talented and inspired. Divine.

  18. bucksmusicon 30 Nov 2009 at 10:10 am

I assumed that Petrucci was short for Petrucciani!

  19. HitokiriDiazon 30 Nov 2009 at 10:10 am

Bucksmusic, I think you are not understanding what Zxrks’s saying.. John Petrucci and Joe Satriani are two very good and techinal guitarplayers.
Oh btw, Zxrks, his right hand is Petrucci and his left is Satriani :) haha, he was very good indeed..

  20. jthemumpon 30 Nov 2009 at 10:10 am

    3 underrated greats.

  21. bucksmusicon 30 Nov 2009 at 10:10 am

Sadly not, as Michel Petrucciani died on 6th January 1999.
