To expand I think our lady peace is taking the son to the hospital because he possibly tried to overdose and kill himself he isn’t dead but I think he is in need of medical attention. Just like Raine’s dream that his father was in the hospital and his father died before he arrived at the hospital. Just an opinion not sure though.

I think it might deal with some racism “Blame myself for being too much like somebody else” and at the end suicide because the son is dead I believe or is dying and the band carries him away to possibly save him. Notice he gives the young lady his coat. Also these lyrics begin when he is on the ground, “And if I don’t make it….” Also both the father and son neglect each other by throwing away their letters.

In the dream his father died before he arrived at the hospital. Also Raine Maida’s father’s initials are AM (Adam Maida) , so it’s “For A.M.” The song is defiantly about Raine’s rocky relationship with his father. As for the video they are father and son. Some racism might be a factor?
