    the result of generations of inbreeding perhaps?

    Very logical and precise. However, your words will fall on intentionally deaf ears. Based on observation of YouTube creationists, I have come to realise that they are incapable of rational critical thought. Its almost as if their brains are wired differently. Could they be a less advanced sub-species?
    I propose Homo creationalensis.

    you are not correct
    the Muslims are far worst
    the jews are tolerated towards non-theists unless the non- theists was a jew

    I don’t see your point..

    you stated that religious belief and acceptance of evolution are incompatible, I showed you an example where that is not true and you accepted that, but somehow I don’t understand something?

    What a great voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What you don’t understand is that Catholicism DID not accept evolution until recently.
    They DID believe in the bible in a literal way.
    It is just now times change we have more evidence and proof that makes the bible really look like a fairy tale , which it is.

    Hence to stay in power they “go with the flow” and all of a sudden change their stand point .

    It won’t be long until most people realize that god is a fantasy, but before that they will realize that religion is PURE BS.

    3 things.

    1. No proof that Jesus ever existed has been found

    2. If he did exist, there is no proof that he was divine

    3. Even if he were divine, the bible has been translated so many times, and so much of it has been discarded that much of the original message has been lost.

    @n8tivguitar
    Christians are one of the least tolerant groups I’m aware of. Many of them are fine, but many of them are insane, hateful and bigoted, especially against non-theists such as myself.

    @rubberbaby00

    I would say that you don’t have a clear understanding of the diverse beliefs that exist within religions. There are many people who don’t believe their holy book of choice is meant to be taken literally, and this non-literal belief would not conflict with an acceptance of Evolution as fact. The papacy for example accepts evolution as fact.

    (!=) > (=/=) IMO

  11. thegoochieguyon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    religionists always try to equate evidence and faith.
    they are worlds apart.

  12. rubberbaby00on 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    I think I understand his point, but Evolution/Science “IS” a substitute for religion. You can be Catholic, Mormon, Muslim “OR” Rational. You can believe biodiversity has a natural cause “OR” a supernatural cause. To think people can be christian “AND” believe in evolution just means they don’t have a clear understanding of one or the other and they hold two diametrically opposing views. Evolution is not a religion, but you can believe it and it can be a substitute for religion & belief in god

  13. pnerdon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    Somebody once said (although I forgot who) that nobody ‘believes’ in evolution. There are those who don’t believe in it, and there are those who understand it.

  14. saxmanchiroon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    Evolution is a process, that’s all. It doesn’t require belief. If you drive a car, or use any form of transportation, use electricity, computers, medicine, tap water, metals, or any device that you take for granted every day and trust with your life, you accept science and it’s findings/discoveries.
    If you are a person who denies Evolution because it conflicts with your sky daddy dogma, too bad. You are a hypocrite in the highest degree. To deny Evolution is to deny your nose’s existence.

  15. nchileyon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    Another reason evolution as a religion, does not hold water, is that evolution, does not get the “pass”, from Christians that other religions do. In most cases the beliefs of a Muslim, and a Jew will get at least the respect of a Christian. While they may disagree, and try to convert them, they will not directly attack the belief, as long as it is a belief in God. Calling evolution a religion is an underhanded way of attacking evolution, and not giving it the respect another religion would get.

    white christians hate black christians is relegion really that big of a deal

  17. Indieguy2on 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    so people just made up the concept of God? Jesus was a person who talked about and praised God. Is that all fictional fairy tales we tell everyone? open your eyes.

  18. Indieguy2on 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    What ever! You use evolution as saying God does not exist. Because you see so much evidence around you– evolution makes you believe there is no God.

  19. alexeirayuon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    No in reality, it has 2 sides to it. It’s not only that it is incorrect to call a scientific theory a religion, but it has another, a bigger side. And that is that a believer, for whom faith has been a virtue for 2 thousands years, suddenly finds himself in a position, where unproven gigantic claims are ridiculed. And that justly. So, he finds himself coming up with a pseudo-scientific “evidence” on one hand, and he tells a materials “no it’s you who believe” on the other. A self-contradiction.

  20. MartinJWilletton 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    A law still cries out for a sound theory to back it up. A scientific law describes what is without necessarily explaining why it is. Theories are superior to laws because rather than just *describe* the way things always happen they *explain* why they happen that way.

    Duly ignored :)

    great words,

  23. AbelMagwitch73on 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    I think a perfect indicator as to the the delusion creationists suffer from is ID (intelligent design?). This is a clear attempt to hide the rubbish they hold dear and disguise it as science in order to hopefully compete with the real science of evolution.

  24. Gcarseon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:36 pm

    Cogito ergo sum…

    …all else is faith. We have faith in scientists when they talk about carbon dating, the structure of the atom, or global warming. We don’t know.

    A belief in God is also faith based. The difference between a belief in God and a belief in science, for me, comes down to this: Which faith based system is harder to accept? To believe there is an elaborate conspiracy involving thousands of scientists throughout the globe? Or the Bible was written by ignorant nomads?

    I guess it was a little late when I wrote my comment. Gratuity = gravity.
